I have been a horse owner for over 40 years and the annual floating of my horses teeth was just something you did along with getting your Coggin’s test drawn.  It was not until I was introduced to Advanced Equine Dentistry that I realized how much more important thorough dental care was for my horses.  After one visit, I saw changes in the way my horses accepted the bit, carried their heads and chewed their feed.

 I have students that have spent hundreds of dollars trying bit after bit on their horses only to find that it was a dental problem all along.  Whenever I see a horse with head tossing, avoidance of the bit, rushing fences or showing signs of back or neck pain, I now tell them to have their horse’s teeth examined by Advanced Equine Dentistry.

I also had unusual cases.  Two of my horses, both large drafts, managed to fracture molars that needed extraction.  Richard and Jay were wonderful and caring and both horses went back to work with no problems.  My warmblood had also cracked an incisor which needed extraction.  I never noticed the hairline crack, but he had gotten hard to bridle.  Imagine having a cracked tooth and a metal bit being knocked against it ever time you were being bridled.  The tooth was removed and now he is his old self about being bridled.

The dental trailer is state of the art.  The horses stand in air conditioned comfort with properly monitored sedation by a veterinarian.  Have geldings?  Have that sheath cleaned while the horse is safely confined in the stocks.  Don’t know what your horse weighs?  The scale in the floor will give you an accurate reading which helps when it comes to dosing wormer and other medications during the year.

In today’s economy, horse owners have to decide how to spend money wisely when it comes to their horses’ health.  I would suggest a visit from Advanced Equine before going out and buying the latest bits and gadgets.  You may be surprised at what you find!
